In 1928, a Golf Course Superintendent from Merion Golf Club named Joseph Valentine marched into the President’s office at Penn State and demanded that research be done to help him and many others manage and understand turfgrass better. Penn State has excelled in doing so ever since and we owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to Mr. Valentine and all of you who have helped us develop into the world’s finest turfgrass educational institution. Penn State Field Days is our chance to show you the extensive amount of work that continues…all in an effort to assist you with your decisions in turfgrass management.
